Manaslu Circuit Trek difficulty?

I came to know that locals in Manaslu region nicknamed it as a “killer mountain".

I have some questions, as i am a first timer.
I am looking for following advice(s), from a guide.
Or, if you've been to manaslu previously, i am looking for your golden tips. I want to return home safe. :)
  • manaslu trek itinerary
  • manaslu trek map/route, phone networks!
  • manaslu trek difficulty
  • manaslu trek cost (for nepalese citizen)
  • manaslu trek guide cost
Is it true that there are danger zones on the way and some objects keep falling out of nowhere?

Hi Buddhi Ji,

Manaslu is one of the beautiful trek routes that I have been to. It is also difficult that other trekking trails; however, you can complete this trek in 13-14 days depending upon your itinerary. This trek is moderate to difficult at some point, but starting of the trek is easy grade. It will be easy 5-6 hours of walk per day. Don’t rush to hike up, walk slowly, take your time to acclimatize, which is a must when you reach altitude above 3000 m. You can follow this itinerary while trekking:

Kathmandu – Arughat – Soti Khola - Maccha Khola – Jagat – Deng – Namrung – Shyala – Samagaon – Manaslu Base Camp – Samdo – Dharmashala – Larkey Pass – Bimthang – Tilje – Dharapani – Besi Sahar – Kathmandu.

You can drive from Kathmandu to Soti Khola and start trek from there and drive from Dharapani to Kathmandu to end your trek.

COST:
Overall cost depends upon how much and what you eat. But you can separate Rs. 2000 to Rs. 2500 per day which will be sufficient enough for Nepali. Carry extra cash just in case of the emergency. And guide cost will be up to somewhere around Rs. 2500 per day. You can buy a map of Manaslu Trek from any store in Thamel. For foreigner, special permit is required and minimum two people are required to trek in this region and travelling without guide is prohibited. So, you can hire an experienced guide to help you to complete this trek. There are good lodges and tea houses along the trail, except at Dharmasala, there are only two lodge, so make sure you book the room/tent beforehand.

As far as the network, NTC / NCELL works on an off till Jagat, and on and off network of CDMA till Samagaon. But they have satellite phone at the Dharmasala, which costs around $25 per minute.
Trail is quite safe, but as the trail follows through bank of Budi Gandaki river, be careful while walking on the river banks and watch out for the rock falls in some landslide area. There are signboards on the trail to indicate landslide area.

I hope I clarified all of your queries. If there are any queries, do not hesitate to ask. Also, please do share us your experience upon completion of this trek.
