I’ve seen people meditating quietly by the Vajrayogini shrine (first floor) and monks doing practice near the statue.
Does the Vajrayogini pilgrimage site allow drop-in meditation for spiritual travelers or retreat seekers?

As per my research, might be for a short time, YES.
This place allows for meditation. Pilgrims and practitioners often sit in silence or personal meditation around the temple and nearby caves without formal retreat registration — it’s not a commercial “retreat center drip-in anytime” situation. Visitors quietly practicing isn’t unusual.

NOTE:

Start a gentle conversation with the Pujari upstairs first. Make sure the space is not already reserved or occupied for the same time or hours.

Pro Tip

  • Drop-in vs scheduled: Drop-in meditation is possible on site and in monasteries, but structured retreat blocks, especially silent or guided, require advance notice.
    Most Pharping monasteries aren’t hotel-style drop-ins.
  • Best seasons: Spring (Mar–May) and Autumn (Sep–Nov) peak for retreat vibes.
  • Respect + participation: Monks welcome sincere visitors; engaging in morning pujas and chanting opens doors to deeper practices.
