On the 20th of March 2023, I took the shortest way to reach Chitlang via Chitlang, a newly found route. It was very adventurous and yet took less than an hour to reach. Here's my blog. Scroll down for the video at the bottom.

INFO:

  • Kathmandu to Chitlang in bike distance= 1 hour approx, 20-30 km/hr (via Chandragiri)
  • Kathmandu to Chitlang bus = Yes via the same route (we saw public buses on the way)
  • Chitlang to Markhu by bike = 30 mins approx as said by the locals.
  • Resorts in Chitlang = Yes
  • Scooters accessibility = Yes
  • Off-road ride = Yes, about 12km offroad ride (40mins approx)
  • Suggested = Windproof jackets (full sleeve), masks, sunglass, a helmet for pillion, water bottle, hiking shoes, Chocolate bars or cap wear, the fuel tank should be full enough.

To reach Chitlang, you can choose various modes of transportation. From Kathmandu, it's approximately 22 km and can be reached by bus, jeep, bike, or scooter, taking about an hour.

From Kathmandu, it's approximately 22 km and can be reached by bus, jeep, bike, or scooter, taking about an hour , depending on your ride.

The best time to visit Chitlang, a place in Nepal's Narayani Zone, depends on what you like. If you prefer mild weather and flowers, go in spring (March to May). For clear skies and colorful leaves, autumn (September to November) is a good choice. If you want a peaceful atmosphere, winter (December to February) is ideal. It's up to you and what you enjoy!

3. What are the different routes to reach Chitlang?
- To reach Chitlang, you have a few options for your journey. If you're starting from Kathmandu, you can take either the Thankot or Kulekhani route. Both will lead you to Chitlang or if you're coming from Hetauda, there's a direct route available as well. It's always a good idea to check the condition of the roads and available transportation before you set out on your trip to ensure a smooth journey.

4. What is Chitlang famous for food?

Markhu in Chitlang has gained fame for its delectable fish dishes sourced from nearby Indrasarobar Lake. Additionally, Chitlang is renowned for its high-quality goat cheese, made from locally sourced goat milk.
